Students electing the CSE emphasis pursue a Master's or Ph.D. degree in their home department of Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Earth Science, Ecology, Evolution and Marine Biology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or Mechanical Engineering, with additional training and opportunities in Computational Science and Engineering.
The course requirements consist of those of the home department plus the core and some elective CSE courses. The curriculum has been designed so that in all participating departments, both the departmental and the CSE course requirements can be fulfilled without taking any additional units beyond what is already required by each department.
